This book is a coming-of-age story set in 1909 Great Falls, Montana. Oliver Malliron is a “dirt farmer” who has lost his wife and is struggling to raise three strapping sons who are concerned with typical things, namely attending a one room school, avoiding bullies and being kids. When Oliver, needing a housekeeper, hires a woman who placed an ad saying “Can’t cook, but doesn’t bite,” change comes to the household. Warm and funny.
