Formed by a handful of private citizens, the Seal Harbor Library is supported by revenues from the annual Library sale, a stipend from the Town of Mt. Desert, and the generosity of its patrons. The classic New England clapboard building has seen improvements since its construction, including new weather tight windows overlooking the harbor and a gas fireplace insert which adds a welcoming warmth. Generations have made the Library their source for all the lastest best sellers as well as a calm retreat. History, literature, library patrons and volunteers make the Seal Harbor Library a village institution.
Without our team of dedicated volunteers, none of this would be possible. If you are interested in volunteering, please let us know. We are always in need of you.
